The production capacity of this smelter is 240 thousand tons of ferronickel (FeNi) / year from 4 production lines. With saprolite nickel as raw material, nickel ore is processed by a pyrometallurgical system using Rotary Kiln-Electric Furnace (RKEF) technology. Ferronickel contains 10-12% of nickel and is a semi-finished product further processed into the final product of raw materials for stainless steel, electronics, coins, transportation, and household goods.
Halmahera Jaya Feronikel ferronickel processing facility (smelter) complements TBP's commitment to building on Obi Island. Having 8 production lines with a production capacity of 780,000 tons/year, this smelter produces ferronickel (FeNi) as an additional value product from processing saprolite nickel ore with a content of 10.5%.
